This week has been children’s mental health week and we have completed a range of activities. We focussed on the theme ‘Let’s Connect’. We began our RSHE lesson by thinking about connections we have with friends and families and we discussed together that this could support our health and wellbeing. We explored the idea of connections further by using multi-link cubes and Miss Ho asked ‘Is just one of these by itself useful? What do I need to do to build something?’ The children shared that they needed to connect pieces together and complete this as a team. We then decided to work together to build a simple tower and we discussed that we are all connected together as we helped each other to build a model. Next we drew around our hands and decorated it with a picture of ourselves and our names. We used this to think about how we are connected to another pupil in our class and one difference we have between ourselves and our classmates. We also used hoops to keep us all connected as we held hands with each other and passed the hoop around the circle. As we passed the hoop around, we shared something about ourselves that connects us to our class.

This afternoon in Art, we were given a telephone handset and have written a message based on what we would say to someone who was feeling lonely or someone who we haven’t seen for a very long time. We designed our work by using paint, chalk, pencils, felt tip pens to make them stand out and we will share our artwork with the community.
