Our current Maths topic is ‘Multiplication and Division’.
At the start of yesterdays lesson, we practiced counting in 2’s, 3’s, 5’s and 10’s using a metre stick.
We then moved onto sharing. Miss Greenwell called up some volunteers to the front of the class and shared objects between each person equally. The STEM sentence we worked on was ’10 shared equally between 5 groups is equal to 2′. ‘We practiced this activity a few times, before working out what our multiplication and division sentences were.
Our main activity was to work in pairs with sharing templates and counters. The children worked together to solve the problem on the board. They then wrote out the STEM sentence for each problem, as well as the multiplication and division sentence.
