This half term our Design & Technology topic is Pavilions. Today we learnt that a pavilion is a semi-permanent structure that is used for shelter. We then had a look at some different pavilions around the world and thought about their purpose and the materials that had been used to create them. In the second part of the lesson, we used wooden sticks and plasticine to experiment with different structures. We thought about the strongest base shapes we could create and how we could reinforce our structures with extra sticks. Finally, we had a competition to see which pair could build the tallest tower that could stand on it’s own!
