This half term in maths we have began to learn about measuring. We understand that for bigger lengths we measure in metres, really small lengths in mm and then cm’s for anything in-between. We have been able to convert different lengths to help us compare, add and subtract. This also helps us greatly when we progress to problems solving. As part of the topic, one of our tasks was to, in pairs, measure some items in the class. We needed to ensure that we were were using the correct unit of measure and the items were to be measured as accurately as possible. As well as vital learning, the children all were able to measure each others heights, the height of the door, and their finger nails to name a few. Our understanding of length conversion will most definitely help us in our learning when we progress to weight and capacity.
