This week, Year 2 have been given an important task to lead Collective Worship for our school and parents/carers. The theme was Lent and we began our assembly by explaining what Lent means and how it lasts for 40 days, the same length of time that Jesus spent in the desert preparing for his work. We then discussed how important Lent is for Christians and the three things they do during Lent, that includes fasting, prayer and giving. We also thought about what we will do during Lent and have written messages and designed our own crosses. Most importantly, the children thought about our school values “to shine like lights in the world” and reflected on how they can show Love, ForgIveness, CouraGe, Hope, RespecT and WiSdom during Lent. Finally, we finished off with a song ‘Lord I Lift Your Name On High’. The children have worked very hard to deliver this assembly and we are so proud of their work.
