Year 4’s trip to the Centre for Life

This week, as part of our Electricity topic in Science we visited the Centre for Life in Newcastle. We started our day by walking from school, along the quayside to the learning centre ready to start an action packed day. During the day, we visited the ‘Wow Zone’, the ‘Space Zone’, watched a science show all about the sea and our local coastlines, visited the planetarium and took part in the ‘Electrifying Newcastle’ workshop! In the workshop, we were tasked with creating a variety of series and parallel circuits using light bulbs and LEDs. We then had a go at generating our own power using miniature wind turbines and solar panels. Finally, we watched a demonstration of an electrostatic generator! We had a great day exploring many fields of science and learning more about electricity.
