This afternoon, Year 4 were lucky enough to be invited to St. Chad’s church to have a look around as part of our RE topic ‘The Church’. After walking up from school we were greeted by Rev. Yvonne who told us a bit about the history of St.Chad’s. We were then able to walk around the building to see if we could find any of the features which we had been learning about in our RE lessons. We were able to spot the pulpit, the font, a lecturn, the pews, candles, the altar and the stations of the cross. Rev. Yvonne then chose some of us to go up to the front and try on the vestments. We learnt all about the different colours and at which times in the Christian church each colour is used. It was a fantastic afternoon and we learnt so much about our parish church.
