What a lovely morning Year 1 had today! Year 1 found out that their new teachers will be Miss Ho and Miss Dunn. We started off by sharing facts about ourselves such as our favourite subjects, siblings and pets that we have. The children then voted together and chose the book that they will be reading in Year 2 for English, which is ‘Little Red Riding Hood’. They also had a chance to ask Miss Ho questions or worries they have about Year 2. The children were very excited to learn about the Titanic in History and making Titanic Moving Pictures and Lighthouses in Design and Technology.
After, the children created hands where they drew a picture of themselves and wrote key words of favourite things they like. As part of our Year 2 classroom display, we will then join the hands together to form a flower to show that we are all unique. The children then created a birthday poster where they had to draw a picture of themselves. This work will be displayed in the Year 2 classroom when the children start in September.
Finally, just before lunchtime, we finished off with a Maths game and Miss Ho made it quite challenging for the children as the children had to be very quick in recalling their 2s, 5s and 10s. Miss Ho was blown away by the children’s fantastic Maths knowledge! Miss Ho and Miss Dunn were very impressed of how hardworking the children were and how fabulous they behaved. A huge well done Year 1 and see you in September!
