Holocaust Memorial Day

Year Six led an informative Holocaust Memorial Day collective worship to all of the children. Through the medium of drama, the other year groups learnt how Jewish people were persecuted by Nazi Germany during the Second World War. Each class learnt more about the Holocaust and carried out an activity to pay their respects. Year Four and Five reflected on the event and created their own flame with a pause for thought. Next, children combined each individual flame to create a large remembrance candle.
Year Three, Two and One watched primary school children interview a Holocaust survivor who shared his childhood experience. Afterwards the children decorated prayer stones and were collectively invited to pray.
In Early years, children created remembrance bread. Children baked challah, a braided Jewish bread eaten on Shabbat and other special occasions.
