This week we have been reading the tale of the Magic Porridge Pot. We enjoyed joining in the story by saying the magic words. We’ve been using these magic phrases in our role play.
We used porridge phonics to read and build words, we looked closely at porridge oats and used some excellent describing words, rough, small and dry. We then watched a short video on how oats are turned into porridge we were fascinated by this process and had many questions. Then, just like in the story, we turned our oats into porridge. We poured some dry oats into a bowl added milk and put the mixture into the microwave. The small oats grew! We had to say our magic phrase “stop, stop little pot, no more porridge that’s the lot”. We enjoyed eating the porridge and some of us chose to top the porridge with banana too.
