We have had yet another busy, fun, enjoyable week in Nursery!
Our focus story this week was ‘The Singing Mermaid’. ‘Tempted by the promise of fame and fortune, the Singing Mermaid joins a circus. The crowds love her, but the poor mermaid is kept in a tank by the wicked circus owner Sam Sly, and she soon longs to return to the freedom of her ocean home . . .’ The children took part in lots of different activities about the story. They designed their own mermaid tails and enjoyed searching for treasure in and out of the classroom.
On the Art table, we made our very own ice lollies. We used coloured card and lolly pop sticks, together with tiny pieces of card that acted as sprinkles! We loved making these lollies so much that we created our Father’s Day cards in shapes of lollies too. We think our father figures in our lives are ‘the coolest’ around!
In Phonics, we have focused on the sound ‘m’. Some of the children were thrilled to show us their formation of the sound that they had completed at home.
In the hall, we took part in some circuit exercises as part of PE. We practiced our throwing and accuracy skills by throwing bean bags into hula hoops, we balanced on benches and jumped in and out of hoops.
Outside, Miss Pegram had made us an ice cream shop to play with, equipped with ice cream boxes, an ice cream cart and till. We served our friends some delicious, creamy ice creams throughout the week! We also enjoyed sitting on the grass at snack time, eating our fresh fruit and drinking our cold milk. We hope that the sunshine is going to continue into next week!
