Muddy Monsters – Week 2

This afternoon, Year 5 took part in their second week of Muddy Monsters. The children were so excited because they enjoyed their taster session so much a few weeks ago!

At the beginning of the lesson, Phil spoke to the children about the health and safety rules of the afternoon because they would be learning how to start a fire using a flint. He then explained the other activities he had prepared for them to take part in. These included; painting, playing on swings, relaxing inside of the hammock and making dens.

The children showed resilience whilst trying to light the flint to start a fire. Some of the children found this quite tough to do, however, other children were incredibly helpful to their friends and guided them through the process.

Some of the children found lots of conkers in Forest school too! So they decided to use these, along with water, mud, grass and twigs to make ‘mud pancakes’.

We also found lots of snails and woodlouse underneath tree stumps!

We can’t wait to return in a few weeks time!
