Our visit to the Great North Museum

As part of our History topic this half term, we are revisiting and building upon our learning about Ancient Egyptian and Ancient Greek civilisations from Year 5. We are considering how the beliefs of Ancient Egyptians compare with those of Ancient Greeks in relation to religion and worship, and the afterlife. Today, we enjoyed a visit to the Great North Museum and visited both the Ancient Egyptian and Ancient Greece exhibitions. We looked at many artefacts and talked about what these artefacts could teach us about life in Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece. We talked about similarities and differences between gods and goddesses worshipped, the journey to the afterlife and everyday objects that people used in their lives. The children found the real-life mummy particularly fascinating to look at up close!
