Year 4 – Entry to Communion

This morning, the whole school came together for a special worship, to welcome 9 Year 4 children into communion.

Reverend Dorothy welcomed us into the service, which was also her first holy communion service at our school. The whole school sang ‘This is Amazing Grace’ at the beginning of the service, before a Bible reading led by 2 of our Year 5 children. Some of the children who were receiving communion for the first time then read some meaningful prayers. Reverend Dorothy then prepared the bread and wine, alongside 2 Year 6 children. The children were then asked to step forward to receive their communion and after, children and staff were welcomed to the front of the hall to receive theirs if they wished. We thought of Jesus, taking note of ‘Jesus took the bread, gave thanks, broke it and said this is my body’. The children then received their communion certificates and pins. To finish the service, the whole school sang ‘Lord I lift your name on high’.

The children then had photographs taken alongside their friends and families, before enjoying a cup of juice and cake to celebrate their day.
