Today Year 3 enjoyed a trip to the Roman fort of Segedunum in Wallsend. We started off with a workshop about Roman clothing, battle formations and the different jobs of the infantry. We then visited the panoramic tower so we could get an aerial view of the fort. After lunch, we went outside and explored the walls of the fort. We visited the stables, barracks and the commanding officer’s lodgings. We were also able to visit part of Hadrian’s Wall. Finally, we had some time to explore the museum where we learnt more about life in a Roman fort.
