During our Angel of the North week in Year 6, we celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Angel in many different ways. In English, we wrote setting descriptions using adventurous vocabulary from the perspective of the Angel. We described what the Angel could see, hear and feel at different times of the day, thinking about how to choose language carefully to create atmosphere and effect on the reader. In Art, we used clay to create sculptures of the Angel of the North whilst in history, we found out about the history of the Angel of the North, and compared historical maps from the 1860s, 1950s and 2023 to see how the location of the Angel has changed over time. We found out that there used to be a mine where the Angel now stands and enjoyed learning about mining in the North East. On Thursday afternoon, we visited the Angel of the North and enjoyed creating observational drawings of the Angel from different perspectives. Finally on Friday, we welcomed our parents to see our learning in our very own Angel of the North exhibition.
