Celebrating the Angel of the North

Year 2 have celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Angel of the North. We have completed a range of activities to celebrate the Angel’s birthday. In Art, we created a sculpture of the Angel using found objects, inspired by Antony Gormley and the artist we have been learning, Tony Cragg. In English, we wrote a setting description based on what we can see and in History, we explored how life is different for people now compared to when the Angel was built in 1998. We were also lucky to visit the Angel and sing her ‘Happy Birthday’ with a huge birthday cake. The children have taken photographs from different perspectives using iPads and have drawn sketches of the Angel.
