National Poetry Day

This week in Year 3 we have been celebrating National Poetry Day. Throughout the week we have focused on performance poetry and have thought about different ways in which a variety of poems can be performed. We had a go at learning a poem called ‘Ocean Rhyming’ off by heart and then we performed it to the rest of the school and to our parents and families at the end of the day.

On Friday, we welcomed a poet into school called Steve Tasane. He did a workshop in our class where we learnt all about rhythm and rhyming. He helped us to use counting and number to write our own class poem. In the afternoon, he did a performance of some of his poetry for the whole school.
