Mulan

This week, children entered the world of Mulan. They were shown China on the map and travelled to China in their mind. Children enjoyed hearing the story of Mulan in the St Aidan’s Chinese Garden.

Children discovered similarities and differences between life in England and China. They saw that both England and China have famous landmarks. They noticed how the wild animals in China are different to the wild animals in England. Children discussed how the school’s place of worship was different to the one Mr Stamp visited and took photos of in China.

Children compared their school lunch to a traditional school lunch in China. Then Reception tried a variety of traditional, beloved food eaten regularly in China.

Reception discovered that Chinese New Year celebrations begin soon. After learning about the Chinese tradition, Reception decided to welcome the year of the rabbit by decorating their own rabbit.
