Beamish Museum

Reception travelled back in time when they explored Beamish Museum on Friday. No snow was going to stop Reception as they ventured on the bus. When they arrived, the place resembled a Victorian Christmas card with snow covering everything. The children travelled on a tram to the Victorian school. They compared similarities and differences between their Reception classroom and the Victorian classroom. Children practised writing their names on the slate boards. Next, the children experienced a Victorian fairground and rode a horse on the carousel. Shortly afterwards, it was time to visit the town and pop by the toy shop, filled with toys from the past. Children loved playing with the toys. There were a variety of toys for them to play with including: a doll’s house, Jacob’s ladder, Sooty and Sweep, as well as a cup and ball game.
