Year 4 have been learning about plate tectonics in Geography.
Having identified the location of the plates and their boundaries, the children were challenged with locating some famous volcanoes around the world. Using Google Maps and the Internet, the children were able to successfully locate and identify six volcanoes, name the country they are found in and the date of the last eruption.
The children were then able to explain that the volcanoes are found along plate boundaries because of the movement of the plate from the mantle below.
