This half term in Science Year 3 are investigating rocks. We started off the topic by looking at six different types of rock. We used a table of properties to help us identify different metamorphic, sedimentary and igneous rocks. We identified limestone, granite, chalk, slate, basalt and sandstone. Once we had identified each of the rocks we thought about what they could be used for. We discussed chalk being a very soft rock which makes it perfect for drawing and writing. We then looked at how each type of rock is formed.
