Science
Through the study of science, pupils will understand the world through the three key areas of biology, chemistry and physics. Our pupils will develop their experimental thinking and curiosity to investigate the world around them. They will become reflective thinkers who see links and patterns in a meaningful way and acquire specific skills and knowledge to enable them to think scientifically, to gain an understanding of scientific processes and provide them with an understanding of the uses of science for both today and in the future. Through our curriculum provision, we endeavour to embrace a child’s natural curiosity about the universe around them, whilst simultaneously promoting a respect for all living organisms and the environment.

Waterproof Investigation
In science this week, we worked in groups to take part in an investigation to find out which materials would be the best waterproof material. The materials included felt, paper, tin foil, plastic and cling film. First, we filled a beaker with some water. We then...
Healthy food tasting session
In Science, our first topic has been animals including humans. Part of the topic has been learning about the various food groups, what they do to help our body and the amount of each food group we need daily. We have examined food diaries, drawn bar graphs to show our...
Science Experiment
Our Science topic this half term is 'Animals Including Humans'. In our Science lesson this week, we looked at healthy and unhealthy food and drinks. The children listed what food and drink are healthy to eat and what we can eat a lot of, then listed the unhealthy food...
Keeping Our Teeth Healthy
This half term in Science, Year 4 have been learning about the process of digestion. Last week, we learnt about the different types of teeth that animals including humans have and compared the teeth of herbivores, omnivores and carnivores. This week we learnt about...
Dissecting a Heart
As part of our Science topic, this afternoon, Year 6 were given the exciting opportunity to dissect a lamb heart. After learning about the purpose of the heart in the human circulatory system, we looked at a diagram of the main parts of the heart, such as the left and...
Year 6’s visit to the Centre for Life
This afternoon, we enjoyed an enjoyable afternoon at the Centre for Life, taking part in a science workshop called 'How do our bodies work?' We began the workshop by revisiting our learning about the different organs of the human body and their functions. Then we...
Gardening
This afternoon, Year 2 visited The Big Local Allotment. We met Suzanne who talked to us about gardening and allotments. She asked us what we thought an allotment was and if we've ever visited one before. She then asked the children what can grow in an allotment. Some...
